Volunteers Needed for 2013Catonsville Parade
The Catonsville 4th of July Committee is an all volunteer organization. We always need volunteers who can work on the celebration all year long as a member of the 4th of July Committee and volunteers who only want to work for one day. Here are the volunteer opportunities:

ALL YEAR LONG…

Committee Members — We are always looking for new committee members. The committee meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus (basement side near library) located at 1010 Frederick Road.  Please submit our Volunteer Form if you would like to Volunteer…

On July 3rd…

Sandwich Makers — Calling all kids!!! The day before the parade, a group of kids get together and assemble over 1,000 lunches for the bands that are participating in the parade. We will also be assembling the trash boxes for the parade route. If you can help, come to the Knights of Columbus, 1010 Frederick Road at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4th. This event should take about 1 hour. Please submit our Volunteer Form if you would like to Volunteer…

Staking — We need a crew of “stakers” to help us cordon off areas of CHS for the fireworks. Duties include hammering stakes into the ground and tying yellow tape around stakes.Wednesday, July 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Catonsville High School and at 5 p.m. on Montrose Avenue. If you can help, call Steve Head at 410-744-0415. Please submit our Volunteer Form if you would like to Volunteer…

On July 4th…

Banner Carriers — We need children and adults to carry sponsorship banners in the parade. This job has perks — free t-shirt, student service learning hours, all the water you can drink, the admiration of your community and a bird’s eye view of the parade line up on Montrose Avenue. Great for middle school and high school kids who need student service learning hours. To sign up or for more information, contact Debbie (Head Graphics) at 410-744-0415. Please submit our Volunteer Form if you would like to Volunteer…

Parade Marshals — During the parade, we need volunteers to help on the parade route. Marshals make sure the parade route is clear at all times and that the parade is flowing smoothly. Please submit our Volunteer Form if you would like to Volunteer…

Collectors— We need volunteers to collect money on the parade route and at the fireworks.

  • Entire Parade Route Collector – These volunteers will walk the 1.2 mile length of the parade with a bucket soliciting donations. Children must be accompanied by an adult
  • Block Parade Collector – If you’re watching the parade and are willing to walk around “your parade spot” with a collection bucket, we’d be very grateful. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Fireworks Collector – We need collectors at the fireworks including locations at UMBC, CCBC, Spring Grove and Catonsville High School. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

We also need a variety of volunteers to do less than glamorous jobs for July 4th. Many of these jobs can be done without missing the parade or fireworks. Please submit our Volunteer Form if you would like to Volunteer…

Handicapped Parking — For the past few years, we have had not had handicapped parking for disabled residents. This year, the high school is letting us use the parking lots. We need approximately 4 volunteers to guard the entrance of the CHS cafeteria parking lot from 5–9 p.m. and check handicapped tags and permits. This would be a great family activity. There are real perks with this job. Your family can park at CHS too and watch the fireworks from the best spot in Catonsville. You are done after 9 p.m. All the water you can drink! Mostly, you will be providing a chance for our disabled residents to have access to the fireworks, something we could not provide the last few years.
