Tips for Enjoying the 2008 Catonsville Parade
- Bring plenty to drink -Make sure you bring plenty of water or other non-alcoholic beverages for the entire family to reduce the risk of dehydration.
- Protect your skin - The parade is over 1 1/2 hours long and sitting in the hot sun for that period of time could result in sunburn and damage to your skin. Use a high SPF sun screen and wear a hat to protect the sensitive skin on your face.
- Leave your pets at home - Loud bands, sirens, firecrackers and confusing pedestrian traffic can really stress your pet. More frightened pets are lost on July 4th than any other day of the year. Leave them home in the quiet of an air conditioned room.
- Bring Money - The Catonsville Celebrations Committee has to raise over $100,00 to produce the 2008 parade and fireworks. They rely on the donations of residents and businesses in the Catonsville area. Collectors will be going down the parade route just before the parade begins. Checks can be made to the Catonsville Celebrations Committee. Be generous!!
- Don't Walk on The Parade Route - Once the parade begins, do not use the parade route as your personal pedestrian route on Frederick Road. Our parade marshals spend a great deal of time removing pedestrians, cyclists and strollers from the route during the parade. If you must walk during the parade, use one of the the side streets.
- Recycle Your Cans and Bottles - If you bring those handy water bottles or aluminum cans to the parade, consider taking them home with you and putting them in the recycling bin.
- Have a great time!!
